24th April 2025 in Pendleton Oregon. Sentinel client Zing Drone Solutions http://zingdrones.com won the annual CUAS Challenge as part of the AUVSI Cascade Chapter’s annual meeting. Pendleton Oregon is one of the FAA’s six national UAS test sites with regular test, evaluation and experimentation taking place among vendors of drone and counter-drone technologies. Zing Drones is a Florida-based startup that has participate in a number of events in Oregon and even been a beneficiary of funding from the Oregon State sponsored Oregon Venture Fund. Today’s award was for first place among five down selected counter-drone technologies from regional startup. The prize is $100,000. CEO Ian Annase was thrilled with the win after his young team worked overtime to get their second product Z-SCAN ready for the event. Z-SCAN combines RF detection with FAA mandated remote-ID tracking and identification to make a robust and cost-effective tool for detecting and tracking errant drones. This win will hopefully be a launch point to bigger things for Z-SCAN and Zing Drone Solutions.
